GAMES.livejournal.com

That's right... you can own games. A permanent account that is absolutely rare, permanent, and utterly impossible to forget!

"Games" was scooped up by me in 2001 in the hope of turning it into an actual collaborative gaming portal for the site... a place where LJers could go and find other LJers who wanted to compete against each other online.

Unfortunately, LJ never went in that direction... LJ's developers didn't see the point.
(Um... developer guys?! I hear the idea worked just fine for Facebook. D'oh!)

It's currently set up as an individual account, but you can use it as your own gaming portal, or convert it into the ultimate LJ gaming community. (You could even rename it, if all you want is the PERMANENT account.)

I will gladly work with you and/or LJ to make sure that everything is transferred to your needs. Any costs involved will be your responsibility, however.

Starting at just $80 for an opening bid... $70 *less* than what they sold for the last time offered, but worth far more, considering the great name and the great cause. Makes a perfect Christmas gift for your favorite LJer!

If you want to make a bid, you must also make a public post to your journal, letting people know about this community. All bids without a public post within two hours of the time of bid will be ignored. Bidding increments of at least $5 are strictly required. Bidding ends at the end-of-day, Monday, Dec. 21st.

As a way of encouraging early bidding and encouraging people to get the word out about this community, I'm giving each bidder a chance to INSTANTLY WIN the auction! For each bid that you make, I will roll a 100-sided die. If I get 100... you will automatically win the auction with your current bid, at a fraction of what the final price might otherwise be! I will even allow bidders to outbid themselves -- in $5 minimum increments -- in order to get more chances of instantly winning the auction!

Bid early, bid often... and win! And be sure to tell your friends on LJ about the community -- NOW -- while you're still thinking about it!

For the record, the last time LJ offered permanent accounts, they cost $150.

Oh, and technically, I should let you know that part of the terms of bidding on the permanent account is that you need to make at least one post to publicly promote the britgeek_love community out there on LJ... if not in your journal, then perhaps in a community that might be interested and relevant.

Please take a moment to make a quick post somewhere to spread the word. If you don't want to make a public post in your journal, please let me know where you plan on posting it. This way, we can help raise more money for Britgeekgirl, to help her through the hard times.

Thanks,
Mark

Long story, I'm leaving on a week-long cruise today (checking my e-mail @ public computer @ hotel). I tried to post the blurb that everyone else is putting in their LJ, but the cut & paste feature is not working on this darn computer! I'll try one more time to post it in my LJ, however it is locked, so I wouldn't be able to show it to you. Not sure if this counts, and pretty much everyone on my f-list has posted the links to this site. :)

If this does not comply, I understand 100%. Besideswhich, I hope someone outbids me anyway, so she'll get more $$$ to help her out! :D

Thank you very much and if you reply & don't hear from me for a week, it's because I can't get web access on the ship, I'm not being a brat! :)

Fair enough.

I will consider your bid as counting, due to unusual yet fully explained circumstances. ;-)

$90.

And I'll go make a post on my LJ right away, been meaning to.

ETA: As my LJ is friends-only, I've also posted on timegate, our local DW con in Atlanta, atlgallifreyan, our local Atlanta DW and more club, and also at dconbrittrack to try and get the word out. All these are public posts.

And now, your d100 roll is...

No problem. :) The way things have been going the last few days, I didn't even begin to think about any chance of winning.

Since it looks like that this comm has not been posted about in the general interest DW comms, I am now posting to them, including doctorwho, which britgeekgrrl promotes through dw_cosplay.

This means that the bidding goes on until end-of-day, Monday, Dec. 21st.

Thanks! That gets you two rolls, btw, as you went up two increments of $5.

39 .... and...
74!

Even at $100, the bidding is still $50 short of what LJ last sold such accounts for, so you're doing pretty well though, considering... and the cause is great! Good luck!
